This long vowel sound resource is ideal for repeated reading strips, written grammar lessons, word mapping practice and sentence building/expanding. How can this resource be used:
Sentence strips can be used as repeated reading/fluency practice after learning the sounds, or as a written grammar activity. For the written activity students choose one sentence, roll the conjunction dice, add it to their sentence and then add another sentence to make a compound of complex sentence. Students record these on the template pages.
How can you differentiate the activities:
Majority of words in each sentences should be able to be decoded by students in Years 2 to 5. As each set of sentence strips comes with sounds marked (with word mapping) or as ‘plain’ text you can easily differentiate for all learners and allow them to all access the same resource.
