Read around Australia

This exciting reading activity brings both reading and comprehension together to engage students and ensure they are enthused and self-driven to achieve. Read around Australia can be easily differentiated for your class and is a term long activity!

The reading/comprehension tasks for students to complete are chosen by you, the teacher. You are given the basis for the resource but will need to provide some additional activities that you choose. Suggestions include our best selling Comprehension task cards - infer and retrieve and Comprehension reading and writing task activities!

What is included:

• 8 state/territory maps for students to ‘travel’ around.
• 1 Australia map for students to be on at the conclusion of their journey.
• 1 mini record map for students to use which records their personal journey.
• 1 activity record page where students record their personal reading/comprehension task each session.
• 2 book review templates.
• Detailed notes on how to use the resource and ideas to set up the display for student use.

What do I need that is not included in the resource?

• Name tags or photographs of each student
• A supply of books for the students to read.
• Comprehension tasks such as the ones suggested above

This can be a fun way to tie your reading program into Geography lessons by marking on your own town or city. I set a maximum of 15 points per day for students to achieve otherwise some students complete it within a few weeks.
