Fraction clip cards – objects

Working on fractions is easy with these clip cards!  Cards contain fraction related statements and objects for halves, thirds, quarters and fifths. Students attach pegs to their chosen statement/s, flip the card and check if they are correct.  You may wish for students to write the fraction down before they ‘flip and check’. They are required to read and understand each statement, comprehend mathematical vocabulary and count the pictures if it is necessary.  Great for rotations, individual work, small groups, consolidation or assessment.

Cards are easy to prepare. Simply cut out each card and fold it in half vertically. You will then have a double sided clip card ready for laminating. (Don’t cut between the clip cards, this makes constructing them harder.)

What this resource includes:

• 18 different clip cards containing all fractions for halves, thirds, quarters and fifths
• 2 Cover pages if you would like to split the cards into two sets and put on ring clips

Each card contains:

•  4 statements: two or three of them are correct
• Self correcting answers in the forms of ‘ticks’
• A fraction that relates to the pictures on the front

This resource is recommended for use in Years 2 to 4 but may be used in earlier grades as an introduction activity or for  revision in higher grades. I have successfully used this 1:1 with a special needs and ESL students.
